The History of the Milwaukee Bucks
It was on 22nd January, 1968 that The National Basketball Association or NBA awarded the franchise to some investors from Milwaukee. The group was headed by Marvin L. Fishman and Wesley D. Pavalon. The group had also named their association as Milwaukee Professional Sports and Services Inc. once the franchise was incorporated on 5th February, 1968, Fishman was named as the executive vice president and Pavalon was named as the president of the association.
The teams first head coach was Larry Costello. Under his watchful eyes, the team went through both expansion and college draft. In the year 1973, Jim Fitzgerald, a Janesville businessman, became one of the members of the Board of Directors of the company. It was in the month of November 1976 that he became the chairman of the board, as well as, the president of the Milwaukee Bucks. He sold the franchise, while at the same position, to Herb Kohl in 1985. He ensured that the team remained in Milwaukee and continued to hold his position for the next 29 seasons.
The Recent Past
Kohl held the ownership of the franchise till the year 2014. It was on the 16th of April, 2014 that the ownership got transferred from Kohl to a new group, headed by Wes Edens and Marc Lasry. The season of 2014-15 witness several new and exciting additions to the Milwaukee Bucks team. Jason Kidd, one of the finest and best point guards in the history of basketball, became the head coach for the team. Under the experienced eye of Jason Kidd came several new talents in the team, 2 of which include Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker.
The organization is on the verge of developing an all new entertainment and sports complex, which will also be the new home for the future generations of Milwaukee Bucks. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, which will be made available at the new complex, will be a part of the revitalization plan of the entire Milwaukee city.
Till date, the team has won several titles in its entire career as a basketball playing club. Some of the titles won by Milwaukee Bucks include Championship Title in the year 1971, Conference Titles in the years 1971 and 1974, and Divisional Titles in the years 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 2001. With such a glorious past, the team is sure to shine in the future, as well.
