The History Says It All
Chicago Bulls was founded by Dick Klein. He failed to purchase the team in the year 1963 after which the Bulls left the city. By then the team had already posted a 25-55 season record. Although the team had left the city, the determination of Klein to bring basketball back to Chicago did not lessen. He tried to bring in together some local businessmen in order to get enough support for an expansion team. Due to the repeated failures of several basketball teams in Chicago, most of the businessmen were a bit skeptical. Finally the American Broadcasting Company, which was fighting to get the television rights from NBA, gave Klein the much needed support. This is when everything changed for basketball in Chicago and Klein.
How the Name Got Introduced
It was on 26th January, 1966 that ABC finally managed to get the television rights to NBA games and Klein was awarded the position of General Manager. Klein wanted to give a new name to the newly formed basketball team so that it represented the images of all the Chicago stockyards. He came up with names such as Toreadors and Matadors. However, his son dismissed them all stating them as “a bunch of bull”. Finally Klein named the team as Chicago Bulls. He had also given one of his neighbors the responsibility to design the team logo, which has remained the same for the last 45 years.
Just like any other team in any other sport, Chicago Bulls also had to face several ups and downs in its entire career. However, the team has managed to climb up the ladder of success once again and looking to make it to the top once again. With star players in team, such as Luol Deng and Joakim Noah, it seems as if the future of the team is quite bright after all.
The Bulls is a part of the Eastern Conference Central Division and plays all of its home games at the United Center. This arena is also shared with the National Hockey League member Chicago Blackhawks. If you also check further about the history of the team, you will notice that Chicago Bulls is the only team without a single loss in any of its NBA finals. This proves how big a team it actually is in real life.
